Blonde Asian

Black and Boxy

First style post from my vacation in the province of Ilocos. I’ve been wanting to go to the Ilocos province for quite some time now but rarely has the chance maybe because of the distance from Manila or most pf my friends have already visited the province once or twice. So as part of my birthday treat for myself, I’ve decided to finally visit Ilocos. Stay tuned for my travel diaries soon.

Boxy Style

When it comed to vacation outfit, nothing beats a comfortable outfit. A short and and some t-shirt would be the usual suspects but how about we play it up a little bit.

If you been reading my blog for some time now, you have probably know my affinity with monotones. For this style post in Ilocos, I brought some of my blacks for this trip. Like I said most tourists opt to don short and t-shirt as their uniform as they ar the most comfortable when travelling (walking, visiting galleries and historocal places, etc). I’m no different, shorts and tshirt are my idea comfortable wear. The key is to be comfortable but stand out at the same time.

My all black ensemble also highlights my pink-dipped blonde hair which I’m loving now and planning to keep the entire summer.

Boxy Shirt from Penshoppe. Easy Shorts from Uniqlo. Gray Overnight Bag from Terranova.

Old School Backdrop Meets Modern Style

Don’t be afraid to wear all black on your next vacation. The goal is comfort and to stand out from the crowd of tourists. Always look the best whenever you are out and about. If black is not for you, choose what suits you best. The end goal is for you to be comfortable on what you wear without compromising your own style.

Blue and Blacks

Nowadays, I’m into visiting museum. For the second half of 2015, I visited three museums and looking forward to make it four or five before the year ends. Well, thanks to my very busy schedule, I’ve planned multiple times to visit museums but somehow the plan is just a plan.

Casually Sitting In The Little Corner

For me, museums are the perfect venue for your OOTD shots. So I make sure to plan my outfit whenever I visit one.
It has been ages since a proper outfit post for my blog. A warm sunday trip to the outskirts of the Metro calls for some cool, comfy outfit for a trip in a museum.

Finally Some Sun, Sands and Sea

Summer is always part of my calendar year. I make it a point each year to have a vacation ~ enjoy, rest, chika with friends andΒ  hit the sands and sea. I am the type of person who prefers vacationing in comfortable place instead of doing adventurous type of activities. You get it, I am not an adventurous. Period. I prefer my vacations lounging in the sands doing nothing. And I guess I am lucky enough that I’ve met some friends who prefer their vacations the same way I do.

Cant see anything beyond

My summer this year, started a little bit late due to some major changes. My family decided to cancel our supposedly family vacation. Though that’s okay because we are expecting something super good soon (Keep posted about that!). Upon hearing that news, I immediately called my college friends for an improptu summer planning. I didn’t really call them, I just sent them a message on viber and the planning continues in just two short weeks. We can say that we are lucky enough because we never experienced any trouble during the whole planning stage up until the very end of our vacation.

For this summer vacation, we decided to visit Bolinao, Pangasinan.

I want to say that the place is exquisite. Just the perfect thing I have in my mind. Not crowded (like Boracay) and the sea is amazing. The sands are good but of course nothing beats the Boracay sands or Caramoan’s.

We arrived in Bolinao, Pangasinan just a little pass 6:30am and the first thing we visited is the local church. During my travel for the last couple of years, my fondness for old church architecture has grown. I find them really fascinating and complex. I am no person to talk to about architecture or engineering but let’s say that I love looking at complex designs and different styles.

Off to the sands now. Will I pass on without my pre-requisite outfit shot?

Black Tropical

For day one, I decided to wear monotone or dark esemble. This is very deviated from the colors for summer. Normally for summer, we see ultra brights, and rarely monotones. Top is Uniqlo, bottoms are from Folded and Hung. I love the print from my Uniqlo’s sleeveless top. It’s from the SPRZ NY collection of The Museum of Modern Art. It has the pop of art which nowadays are very big on street style trend from the major cities in the world. The top is comfortable, so as the bottoms. Who needs to wear uncomfortable clothes in the beach, right?

I’m never been afraid to stay under the sun and get my skin burn (a lot). Anyways, my tone will just return to it’s original color maybe after less than two weeks. I always get scolded for staying prolonged time without sunblock. And, I always complain that my skin itches or hurts a lot. Maybe the next time I visit a beach a sunblock with high SPF will do me some good.

Look at the “oh-so-nice” sceneries.

Who wants to miss out on the perfect sunset? Bolinao’s Patar beach has the unobstucted view of sun setting down. Consider it this way: Philippines has the best sunset view in the world and Bolinao has one of the best. You do the word association: Best sunset in the whole wide world. The unobstructed view is awesome. The waters from the South China Sea or West Philippine Sea is perfect for this sunset. I am so lucky to have experienced this. Still what I want to see is the sunset from Manila Bay. Hopefully soon, I can check it off from my bucket list.

Me, Amor and Ehlaine

Our second day started way early than the usual mornings for vacations. We started our day at around 5AM. At that time, I need to wake up because we need to visit one of Panagasinan’s major tourist spot. We never really planned to visit the place but since it’s just an hour and half drive away why not go there. It’s like having two vacations in one? This place I am talking about is the famed “Hundred Islands”. We’ve been planning to visit this place for years now but for some reason, we always end up somewhere else.

Before travelling to Hundred Islands, it’s time again for my day’s outfit. First day is all abouy monotone. This time around, I decided to go pink ~ bright pink to be exact. Capping it with a nice printed snap back which is becoming more and more popular these days, thanks to hip hop culture and Asian countries like Japan and South Korea. My pink top is from Forever 21 and bottoms are from Uniqlo. I like how the pink blends well with black. I should wear more of this combination. Before shooting the outfit post, I decided to tucked the shirt in which the way I look at it looks more stylish than not tucked-in.

Bright Sun Parade

Hundred Islands as usually does not fail me. Though I wish that all the 123 or more islands are visit-able ( Do such word exist? ). I have to say that my favorite island is the “Turtle Island”, it looks like a turtle from any angle. Too bad there’s no shore line in Turtle Island.

Before we end our two-day vacation, we need to visit one of the most renowned church in the Philippines which is the Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag Church which is located in Manaoag, Pangasinan. At first sight from afar it reminds me of The Antipolo Church but up close it is so different. We have to thank our Lord Creator for giving us the chance to visit such places and creating “beyond words” islands and places here in the Philippines.

Flavor of the Month: Pink

New year, new beginnings. Such a cliche but we always believe on that. Many of us change the way we live. Like staying away from vices and living a healthy lifestyle. Some change their perspective and some like me change their hair color.

For last year, I sported blonde hair all year long. And to be honest, it is quite a hassle and such a high maintenance stuff. I easily get annoyed when I see black hair growing from the roots. I really wish someone would invent a pill when you take it, you instantly change your hair color. That would be really fantastic because for people like me who wanted to try different hair colors and experiment from time to time, that would save us time coloring our hair and trips to salons.

For the start of the year, I colored my hair pink or what the hair pro says “Mystique Heather”. I’ve been planning to try “out of the box” color for quite some time now but I guess I dont have the courage yet. Aside from that, I was hesitant to try it because it might not fit my skin tone. It is very crucial that your hair color is with harmony with your skin tone or else it will turn out very un-classy or I may use a Filipino slang “chaka”.

Pink Angst

Originally, I wanted to do something very purple but I think my hair decided to go pink. The color in hair color book looks like more purplish than pinkish. Well anyways, it has already been done and even though I was quite disappointed that I didnt quite expect this hue to come out, I am so pleased with the result. Think of supermodel Kate Moss, ANTM winner cycle 18 winner Sophie Sumner, Jia of Miss A (Kpop group) and not really a lot more. This color is hard to maintain but I will do my best to keep this color until my birthday. Yeap, I am turning 27 very soon and that’s close to 30. Scary right! I will not be able to sport this hair color when I turned 30ish because it is so juvenile. Hahahaha.

By the way, I really like that my hair is turning cotton pink as the day progresses. From very dark pink to light pink.

So wish me luck with my “pink” hair month.

So, do you love me with pink hair?

Cotton and Leather On A Rainy Saturday

What do I love about rainy days? One is you can bring out all the sweater and jackets you have saved for cold December nights, and wear them out. Second, you can do layering with thick garment to thick garment. Third, it is an excuse to wear your leather garments that is a big “no-no” on a very humid Manila temperature.

I have noticed that three weeks have passed without any outfit post for my blog and tada, here it goes.

image

Rainy Day OOTD

For this ensemble, I use a cotton “Converse” tracksuit jacket for my outerwear as a shield from the rain. Though to tell you honestly, cotton on a rainy day – I’m not really a fan because it tends to become heavier when wet. Good thing is that evening no trace of rain is present and the temperature is kind of chilly too. For the bottoms, it is my favorite pair of leather leggings from local brand “Una Rosa” and to finish off the ensemble, I wore a leather sneakers from “Wade”. My look is reminscent of sporty casual urbanite though I am not really a sporty type. So I guess that you will seldom see me in the same ensemble but with the trousers still stay true to my style. What I am really loving with sporty look is that they are so comfortable. I always see this kind of look with very minimal or no accesories at all on airport fashion. Where comfort needs to go first before anything else but celebs still look very stylish (I need to ace my airport fashion for a trip this January).

I have to include this on this post: Me and my very long time friend Tin dined at a super trendy Japanese Restaurant in Jupiter Street in Makati named “Mitsuyado Sei-Men” and the food is Divine with capital D. Japanese cuisine is on top of my fave so I am a littles biased here but to taste is to believe.

Here’s what we had for dinner:

image

Delicious Japanese Dinner

Of course the prerequisite “Ebi Tempura” and “Japanese Grilled Beef” and the main cast, the cheese and curry noodle (That’s not the exact name because I forgot what it is really called). Cheese and curry are like perfect combination. I liked them as an individuals but as a duo it is even better. I will definitely back and tag along my mom at Mitsuyado Sei-Men. Just beside the restaurant joint is the super popular Yamato Bakery and Cafe. Too bad that I wasnt able to take home a cronut because it was too late and only the leftover cronuts are available like two or three (I decided then not to buy that time) but you really have to taste their great selection of pastries. I specifically loved the “Salad Bread”.

After a long long time, I had a chance to taste Coco Royal again. Coco Royals are juice or a healthy soda from Thailand and they are so delish. Coco water and fruits are great combination.

Next Face Of Coco Royal?

Saturday was a great night with my long time friend. We made tons of chika and catching up for like 3 or 4 hours. How we miss the days that we see each other everyday and I am very grateful that I have friend like her ( Tin and Russielle – we miss you Russielle. Dont you worry you are our central topic. Hahaha. Joking only).

Again, here’s my very comfortable outfit last Saturday night. Dont you forget to hype this at Lookbook and Style Share

image

What’s important is that you are comfortable with what you are wearing, dont be afraid to mix and match and have so much fun dressing up.

Since this post has Japanese influence. I really wish that I will be able to go to Japan next year (Paging someone). First thing I will try are those “Purikura”. Have you remembered the once popular neo-prints? Purikura is like that but it’s better. You can slim yourself, put makeup, concealer. So it is like a photoshop neoprint that will make you even more “kawaii”. I dont know but I am keeping my fingers crossed and I want to spend a vacation (or even migrate) in Japan next year. Big dream right? I will be super broke if I live in Japan because I will be shopping non-stop.

Till the next pose & post!

PS. I am so sorry for the lack of photos at Mitsuyado Sei-Men and Yamato. This was supposedly an outfit entry but decided on my final edit to add the place where we had our dinner. Promise, I will be back soon and will make an appropriate entry for the said restaurants.

Black & White Plus Darkened Skies

The rain has been non-stop for the last couple of days but the good news is that we have some sunshine today. I wasn’t able to go to work for three consecutive days and for that downtime, I had the chance to reorganize my closet, sort them all and find some old treasures. The good thing for doing this is that I was able to find classic basic pieces. What I love about classic pieces is they never get out of style, you just have to rework it everytime you wear it or style it differently. For short, it is about “mixing & matching” and having fun getting dressed-up. I am so glad that all those years of shopping, I was able to keeps some classic staples like blacks, whites and cardigans ~ you name it.

For this ensemble (last Thursday’s, ahem), the black overall-slash-cardigan from Maldita is one of the finds I was able to dig from my downtime. I wasn’t able to wear for a long long time. To be honest, I even forgot that I have that overalls. Just beneath it I wore a white button down shirt from local retail shop Folded & Hung. I paired it with cropped Topshop black skinnies. Cropped trousers are kind of big now in Asian fashion from Korea, Japan and even here in Manila. I wonder if you can specifically buy cropped trousers hut anyways what I always do is to buy a pair of skinnies and have them cut by my “mananahi” (or tailor). Alternative option is you can simply fold the ends of the skinnies instead of having them cut but sometimes it will not create the desired effect you planned for your ensemble.

image

So I hope on your next downtime, you will be able to rediscover some treasures and incorporate it with your “this season’s wardrobe”.

Hype this look at Lookbook and heart it on Styleshare

PS. One of my co-workers said that I look like a Japanese school kid with this ensemble/look. Do you agree?

End Of Summer?

Start of June and it signifies the end of Summer here in Manila. That means more wet days but that proves us wrong. For the supposedly last days of summer, it is so hot. It is very dry and it feels like it is April, the only difference is at early evenings some showers are present. Like I said on my previous entry, I already cleaned up my closet for the rainy season. But of course, since I am living in a tropical country, I am still very much expecting sun but not like summer’s.

Since summer will officially end in another week or two, me and my friends decided to do some end of summer pyjama party style.

The small gathering of three took place in my friend’s pad in Fairview. I thought our home is too much of a hassle for a drive, but compare it to Fairview which is comparably way too far. The small gathering is just a dinner chitchat with drinks and more laughter. We should be making this as a tradition for an end of season party/ gathering.

image

image

image

image

Here’s what I wore for the simple party: I decided to wear short shorts from Zara, for my top I decided to wear oversized Polo from American brand Custom Made which you can buy locally from People R People, and white basic cotton shirt from Cotton On. The look is so relaxed and perfect for an overnight stay without looking to dressy for a simple gathering.

Lasting Summer

Wouldn’t it be fun if summer is forever? You can go to the beach anytime your heart desires to. Too bad that it only exists in my imaginary world, where unicorns play with us, the sun doesnt hurt your skin and glitter is actually a sweet food that makes you thinner. How lovely my imaginary world is. πŸ˜‰

So for the last hurrah for the summer me and my friends finally were able to go to the beach. We spent our weekend at Puerto Galera. Just a two hour drive and another hour of boat ride from Manila. It wasnt too bad right. Though of course, you will not be able to compare it to Boracay (another party beach) or to Caramoan (the best beach/island/ peninsula in my own opinion). So there you go, we settle for Puerto Galera for the last weekend of Summer 2013. As long as there’s sand and sea that would do the trick.

Honestly, Puerto Galera wasnt that bad. It has a great sceneries, the beach is above average, and there’s party.

We departed to Puerto Galera the earliest we tried to. Sarcasm aside, we departed Manila at 6:30AM on a Saturday. I was actually praying hard that it wouldn’t rain because two or three days before our scheduled trip, the rain has been a bad friend. Rain during afternoons and evenings. Going there, I opted to wear a 90s pop grunge look. White shirt withe sleeves rolled up from Bench, black shorties which I altered myself from Topshop and some colored cardigan wrapped off my waist from Penshoppe. The entire outfit is very 90s look~ which is making a revengeful comeback this year. The pic doesnt include my summer’s favorite triangle necklace which is a gift from a friend.

image

The sun was in it’s full glory and we were so ecstatic for it. This means more sun and more tan. I tried my best to stay in the sun but my skin didnt burn that much and it hurts like hell just staying under the sun.

image

For our first afternoon I decided to wear some very resort outfit. Sleeveless beach wear from Culture and board shorts from Folded & Hung. The outfit is so nice and I am very comfortable with the ensemble. I can go for hours on that ensemble for it is very comfortable.

image

image

Look, here’s the renowned sunset courtesy of Puerto Galera’s bay or coast line.

image

The place is still very much Puerto Galera as I remembered it. The last time I visited the island was two years ago. Though one thing I have noticed: the beachfront is more crowded with shops. The nightlife was still a good one but again maybe I have changed a bit and that is why I dont appreciate it as much as I did last time I was there. We were so lucky enough that we’re seated front row (or second row) at the night’s drag show performance. I laughed so hard because the performers were really that great. Some I dont appreciate because their skits are too old for me. The DreamGirls, Beyonce and “I Dont Wanna Miss A ‘Tang'” performances are superb. The last one was beyond hilarious. Too bad, I wasnt able to snap some picture during our night out because we were having too much fun talking, drinking the infamous “Mindoro Sling” and laughing at the drag queen performances.

The next day, I burnt myself. I wished I stayed longer under the sun. Here’s a picture of my burned-tanned skin. Do I look gorgeous as a tanned asian blonde? You decide.

image

The sands were so busy with people basking in the sun enjoying the day but that wont stop you from getting a perfect space to beach bum under the shadows. The water is so serene and clear, the sky is blue. It is also the perfect time to people watching, catch up with friends and eat ice cream.

image

image

This particular trip in Puerto Galera is actually my fourth time. Will I consider going back? I honestly don’t know. Maybe not in White Beach anymore but at the other side of Puerto Galera where there’s less people and offers a more quiet space. Though of course, I will not close any possibilities. I might be back next year, I might never come back ~ I really don’t know.

The weekend was so much fun. I am looking forward for more beach spots and trips all year long with my friends. Anyways, it started raining today. So officially, I say “sayonara” to summer for this year.

Till the next pose & post!

PS. Cleaning my closet and making space for rain wear. Putting all my summerwear at the back.

Neutrals on Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day. Not considered as a holiday but one of the most important days to pay homage to the best woman in our lives.

I woke up very early today and as part of my routine, after breakfast (to be honest, before breakfast), I checked Facebook, Instagram and Twitter on my phone. And guess what, almost everyone had a tweet, status update, new photo about their own mothers. I just love reading to those stuff. Everyone is a buzz for this day. As an active social network citizen, before I went to sleep last night, and it so happened that I slept around 2AM (earlier today), I posted an old picture of mom with me and my big brother. Old pictures are my thing right now, and I even discovered an old picture of me and I am thinking to post it soon and already thinking of a perfect caption. Back to mother’s day, I think they should seriously pass a bill about making this day a legit holiday.

image

What I remember the most about mother’s day way when I was so young was that we are always go to some beach. Driving on some freeway with that Spice Girls song on the background aptly titled “Mama”. It is like a family tradition that the whole family is on a weekend getaway for the Mother’s Day weekend. I miss doing that weekend thing with the family.

For this year, me and mama just had a quiet dinner near our place. There is that artsy cafe/ bistro just a 10 minute drive from our place. Dont you worry, I am already working on blog entry for “AngNewNo Cafe” and it is either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow that I will be able to post my entry about the cafe.

image

image

image

For the mother’s day date, I wore my comfy Dean & Trent minute plaid prints shorts, paired it with neutral polo shirt and finished it a Rajo Laurel Japanese shoesies. No accessories added because I am too lazy to wear some and it is so freaking hot (lame excuses) and I just had my neutral colored sling bag that matched my polo shirt. Very easy breezy look perfect for a quiet early dinner to an artsy cafe.

image

By next year, mom will be celebrating “grandparents’ day”, which would be her first, because my brother’s wife is expecting. I really wish that it would be a girl so I will be able to style the baby. πŸ˜‰ Irregardless what is the gender of the baby, I will be a proud uncle and will love him-or-her like my own.

Ma, I so love you. I dedicate this blog entry for you. More mother’s day to come.

Till the next pose & post!

Exposures: What I Wore

Today’s ensemble is a complete turn-around of what I am supposed to wear today. Originally, I planned to wear a stripped loose shirt paired with a “Cotton On” leggings but decided on the last minute that I dont like it for some reason.

image

So instead, I changed the top into a super basic white shirt and put on my ever reliable blazer. Which I have to say that the jacket/ blazer is such an investment because I can wear it to whatever season we are in. I paired it with Rajo Laurel Japanese inspired shoes. As for toppings, I decided to wear a black triangle pendant necklace. The ensemble is very summer season friendly. Right?

Till the next pose & post!
