New Stripes

Stripes are something I can consider as staple in my closet. I have almost all manageable style of stripes you can think of and my most favorite one is the black and white thin style. As far as I remember, I have been wearing stripes all my life. I even saw a baby picture of myself wearing this style.

As you would have known by now, I love simple and clean aesthetic. I even reference my style as “minimalist kawaii”. Stripes are something that I can easily mix and match to my style. You can wear this style no matter the season is. You only need to know when to wear the best perfect stripes for the occasion or season.

I really find it amazing when I see a stripes style with an “attitude”. Something shouts “I am not a normcore stripes” but at the same time still a classic staple. I find this very amusing top from Uniqlo UT collection which features capsule collection for different themes. I personally love these shirts from Uniqlo that I always make sure to include Uniqlo on my shopping trip every time. Aside from that, Uniqlo has got me hooked because of their clean and classic aesthetic.

By the way, I am wearing a combination from Uniqlo. Both top and bottom are from Uniqlo. Top is from Uniqlo Dick Bruna UT Collection.

Wraparound

I have this fascination that you might have noticed from the last couple of resort wear style blogs I posted before.

Wrap Me Around

The last couple of beach trips, I always brought with me some wrap arounds, cardigans or pullovers. I really find it useful to bring at least one on your beach trip as you can use it in different ways.

Deep Blue

This probably the quickest that I’ve blogged so far. Just arrived from an out of town trip last night with my college best friend and I’ve already done a little bit of edit and draft. This is a really good sign.

This is the first outfit blog from my recent trip in Batangas (where else but to the beach). We are so lucky to be living in a tropical country that makes it far from impossible to visit a beach whenever you want to. Well, except maybe for a few days when rain is unbearable.

Recently, I have this fascination with blue tones. Whenever I do my shopping, blues always attract my eyes. I also think that blues mixes well with my peach/ pink hair. The combination of blues and pinks brings a more youthful feel.

Pro-Contrast

Summer might be officially over but my summer pool photos and coordinates are still deep. Reason for that is that I was very busy that I barely have time to blog. Just waiting for things to stabilize and will definitely go back to regular programming.

Fixing

For this style post, let’s throwback to my first trip to Boracay this year when summer was in its full power.

Ilocos (Part 2): South

The trip to Ilocos wouldn’t be complete without visiting the Southern Part of the province known as Ilocos Sur. We were not able to go around as much in Ilocos Sur as we did in Ilocos Norte and just decided to go straight to the heart or capital of Ilocos Sur which is Vigan City.

Vigan City is known as a heritage city because it houses the famed Calle Crisologo which is a street-full of old houses which makes you feel like you are transported back in the 1880s.

I honestly think that this trip to Vigan is a some sort of a field trip though the difference is I now appreciate more these kind of trips to the museums and historic sites. I like looking at old artifacts and learn more about the history and heritage of the place. Putting that in mind, I will never pass on a chance to visit a museum. For this trip in Vigan, we visited three museums. If you love museums like me, Vigan is a must visit place then.

Last but not the least, the Bantay Bell Tower. Wow. I’ve visited and seen a lot of Bell Tower and Lighthouses all throught my trips in the Philippines but I can say for now that the Bantay Bell Tower tops my list. The place is packed with tourists locals and foreigners alike and I wish to come back when there are less people which I think is rare feat. Quite honestly, Bantay Bell Tower is not even part of our iterinary for this trip but decided the last minute to visit the place as recommended by the locals. Make sure to go inside the old tower and go up the watch tower and be captivated by the view of Vigan from above.

This wraps up my visit of the Ilocos province. I have been wanting to visit the province for so long and it was actually worth the travel to the North. I had so much fun seeing the cityscape, beach and heritage sites. I also had so much fun eating Ilocandia cuisine which I believe is one of the best in whole country, make sure to eat the famous empanada and try the variation from Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur. Thanks Ilocos for the hospitality, this trip checks one of the places to visit in the Philippines.

PS. To where next then?

Light and Stripes

Ever since I moved to a light pink hair, my affinity to something light or nude has increased as well. It is not something new but amidst all my monotone gradients in my closet, I find myself buying more and more pastels (or light colors). I honestly think that some of the hair colors have sipped in my brain so that nudes and pastels will rule my buying impulse.

Basic, Clean and Sweet

For this look, I’m going for a sweet, basic look that compliments my light pink hair. Thanks to my light pink hair, I always get stopped at shops/ boutiques and get compliments for my hair. I think so far, this is the best hair color I had and planning to keep them until the end of the year.

Ilocos (Part 1): North

I have been wishful thinking for years that I will be able to visit Ilocos Province. It is one of the places I want to visit in the Philippines because of beautiful sceneries, food and of course the beach. Ilocos is located on the northern part of Luzon. For this trip, we are lucky enough as we were able to visit Ilocos Norte (including Pagudpod) and Ilocos Sur.

We started our extended weekend trip in Ilocos Norte specifically in Laoag City. Laoag City is known as the norternmost city in the Philippines and the capital of Ilocos Norte.

The following day was supposedly a beach day but the sun did not show up. Nevertheless, we still headed to Pagudpod. The rain will not stop is to explore the sleepy town of Pagudpod. There are a lot to see in Pagudpod and eventhough the skies are not generally beach friendly we still enjoyed our trip to Pagudpod.

Waters From The West

Vacations with friends are a must do during Summer. The last couple of years, I never pass on the chance to go to the beach with my closest friends.

Tactile

Out Of The Woods

To open the summer season, me and my college best friend went to visit one of the gems of Luzon, which is Zambales. I’ve been wanting to go to this province for the longest and if I am correct, the last time I visited this nearby province was more than 5 years ago. Despite the proximity of Zambales in the Metro, I rarely have the chance (perfect timing) to pay a visit.

Zambales offers a wide range of beach you can think of. You can have resort accomodation, camping or simple island life depends on your liking. Though I love travelling (or being a tourist), I do not consider myself as the adventurous one. I always opt to go for relaxing resort vacation. Good thing, Zambales offers what we were looking for. We stayed in Crystal Beach Resort in San Narciso. Most known for the annual music festival that takes place on their resort ground. We went their at the start of the summer season in the Philippines and we were able to book a room without any hassle though the last minute before checking in, we decided to upgrade our accomodation. Make sure to book and call them ahead of time if you want to stay for the weekend as rooms tend to book really fast.

Like We Own The Shore

There are a lot activities that can be done in the resort. For us, we just decided to stay on the beach and have so much fun capturing memories in our cameras. In short, what we did is beach bumming plus photoshoot. Aside from the beach, almost all corners of Crystal Beach are instagram worthy.

Must do for this vacation: watch the sunset and take advantage of the golden hour. Have you always though what “Golden Hour” is? It is the the time of the day just before sunset when all the photos taken do not need to be edited or do not need any filter. Golden hour will give you the glow any BB cream can provide. Trust me, it is one secret I live by when taking photos for my blog. Not just for my travel blog posts but for my OOTDs posts as well.

Sending You All The Mini Hearts

White Heat

White has been a staple color for the summer season. All throughout my vacation and out of towns this year, it seems that the prevailing color is white. Well quite honestly, white has been the “to go to” color for summer. Maybe because it was said to attract less heat? I really do not know but white is almost synonymous with summer.

White and Serenity

Captured The Light

It is quite easy to don a white ensemble as it matches perfectly with almost all colors just like black and gray for a basic normcore look or you can match white with loud colors like pink or purple for a youthful summer look.

For this coordinate, I paired a white printed shirt with my fave color as my bottom and topped with a wide brimmed hat.

Staples: Black and White

Please watch out for the first entry from my Summer Diary series this year coming very soon. So watch this space! I think you might have guess where the first destination is?

Technicolored

Dressing up on the beach is really tricky but at the same time a challenge I enjoy doing. Why do I say that? Mainly because when you buy your outfit pre-vacation: your skin is lighter, hair is the perfect color (for me blonde) and you tried to get ready for your vacation by being a little too watchful of what you eat. Then when you beach vacation starts: you eat (a lot!), stay in the sun longer (because you have so much fun and it’s always picture perfect under the sun) and your hair becomes more brassy (in case for my blonde hair – thanks to the sea).

Cue Beyonce’s “Deja Vu”

Zambales Life

For this summer, I tried (planned?) to be as colorful and bold on my coordinates but whenever I see monotones, my mind always says, “that’s perfect for you!”. So what better thing to do? Pack all the most colorful pieces you have and bring some blacks and gray. It’s just a matter of mixing and finding the balance for your coordinates.

Fashion has no rules. Style is what makes you an individual. Experiment with your coordinates. Have fun under the sun and get a tan. And most importantly, be confident.
