My Favorite Mediums

Social media, does it run our lives? That is just one of the question I’m reflecting on. Whatever we do, we tweet it. Whatever we wear, we instagram it. Whatever we eat, we share it. Hype, like, share, update, whatever the verb is, we are definitely living in a digital age.

This is just my breather post after all the outfits, foodies, books I posted. So this is all about my social media accounts. There are tons of social media portals/ websites/apps out there but these are the ones I am currently obsessed with “or” are totally using right now:

1) TWITTER: @orangediaz

Almost everyone is using twitter for microblogging. It’s like texting but you text the entire world (or your followers)

image

2) INSTAGRAM: @orangediaz

Pictures, pictures, pictures. Hashtags… No need to elaborate further, one of the most popular social media focuses on pictures (and recently launched the video, and honestly I haven’t tried that instavideo thing)

image

3) StyleShare: www.stylesha.re/orangediaz

It originated from South Korea and focuses on fashion and street style. From this I got a lot of inspiration for OOTDs and a lot more. This is fashion in general, not just outfit but skincare, nails, cosmetics, you name it. I am a sucker for Korean and Japanese fashion, so I guess that’s the reason I love this portal. I dont socialize much on this site but it’s like my ritual to check the feeds every day or every other day the most.

image

It doesn’t necessarily mean that a social site is popular, you need to join one asap. You have to think what will best work for you and your lifestyle. There are like hundreds of social sites or portals out there, so try to discover and don’t forget to be your own self. Lastly, as one of the local news channel is promoting ~ “Think Before You Click”. Be responsible.

Sweet, Edgy, Safari

You can probably guess that one my fave colors is gray. Most of my outfits or can I say that around 50% of my closet is leaning towards the hue of gray. I just love how grays mix with other colors. When I was doing my shoe shopping around a month ago, I didnt notice that all the shoes I was trying on were gray ones. Good thing that the perky and nice boutique attendant pointed out, “Favorite mo talaga ang grays noh?” ( Translation: Grays is your fave? ). Anyways, that is the moment that stuck me to reassess my closet. I can’t really help it. Gray is very neutral. Gray is very classic. Gray is on the same level as blacks and whites. You can mix it with everything.

This is my first outfit post after my very drastic haircut. Honestly, I was trying to post this entry for quite some time now but things kind of getting hectic and I wasn’t even able to proofread this entry up until now (and this almost didn’t make it to my blog because it was saved too far because I organize my files date-wise, maybe I should reassess my sorting skills or reorganize my hard drive).

image

For this outfit, my polo top is from “People R People”. People R People is like a haven for everything. They sell almost all kind of garment and from all over the world. Mainly small brands from USA or Europe. I remember back in highschool that PRP is only a small store but look at them now, they have shops almost everywhere. My inner wear is from “Forever21”. It made from very sheer cotton or whatever it is that it so comfortable and just the perfect fabric for layering specially in weather’s like Manila. Shorts is from “Cotton On”. Cotton On is becoming one of my to go shops because of quality and price. One of my friends said that Cotton On is way cheaper in Singapore, so maybe I can go to SG and do shopping spree in Cotton On, but hey I can’t complain anyways.

Does my ensemble remind you of gray?

The Two Bs: “Blonde” and “Bangs”

I have this affinity to my mid length blonde hair. For the past year, I didn’t change my hairstyle. I just love how my hair looks. And suddenly, maybe a day of debating, I decided to change it up (hopefully for better).

I cut my hair to this severely short do. I may rant that I miss touching the ends of my slightly long hair but to be honest, I am loving my new hair. I had an almost the same style few years back when I was sporting a black hair with full bangs amd full bodied hair. When I turned into a blonde some months back, I thought blonde and full bangs will not go on the same plane but I proved myself wrong.

Thanks to my new hairstylist from Bench Fix Podium branch for giving me exactly the cut I was aiming for. By the way his name is “Son”, so maybe if you like my new do you can find him at the Podium branch. I was really hesitant to have my haircut at Bench Fix because of some feedback shared by some friends ( and ex-friends) but again this proved me wrong. I will definitely going back and have my hair cut (and hopefully colored) at Bench Fix Podium. Hairstylist Son was really nice and great on his craft. I just showed him a pic of the hair I want to have and we meticously brain stormed some minor adjustments to suit my personality and face frame.

Don’t be afraid to change and amp-up your looks. Like I always say to one of closest friend, “Kelan mo pa itratryan yan pag 40 o 50 ka na?” (Translation: When will you try it when you’re already 40 or 50 and too old to try it?).

Have fun, experiment and be youthful.

The Equation of ‘Boxy & Linear’ and ‘Black & White’

I have this ongoing fascination with everything boxy and linear. Oversized sweaters or tops are quite trendy nowadays, thanks to Japanese and Korean fashion trends. Another staple I keep noticing on Asian fashion is the linear prints. Whether on shirt, short, cropped tops, pants, leggings, you name it – they are everywhere.

As a rule I set for myself, I really want contrast in everthing I wear. If the top is oversized, I always counteract it with a slim bottom or trousers. (Honestly, I dont think I own a pair of boxy bottoms or pants – except maybe around 10 years ago or so when my mom used to buy me all the clothes and at that time I dont care whatever I wear.). If I wear light hue on one part, the other part should be dark. I always believe in the cliche, “opposites attract” and of course “The Ying and Yang”.

Another factor I need to consider is climate. Manila weather is very uncomparable to Tokyo or Seoul’s weather, so it is very important for me to choose lightweight materials. I dont want to look all sweaty while doing my errands, lunching with friends etc. Though the good thing is Christmas season is almost here so we can purchase wool, sweaters and knitted wear all over again. This is the crucial time to do that because once February ends, we have to settle again for skin baring ensemble.

For my ensemble, the top cotton linear long sleeves is from “Basic House” which is a Korean lifestyle apparel. They have intensive line of linear shirts and tops which is like a shopping heaven for linear fans like me. I really appreciate that they are opening more and more branches all throughout the Metro. The bottom is actually a wool leggings from intimate line “Oro”, considering the price and quality of the leggings it is quite a great steal. Lastly , I finished my ensemble off with a mustard shoesies which become my favorite pair of shoes for this month. It brings that “pop of color” to my regualar day outfit. I should be buying colored shoes more and more instead of going to the usual grays, blacks and whites.

Growl Like A Wolf

This Saturday is quite unusual for me. First and foremost, it is my first time to attend a KPop concert. Me and my “Ate Sher” attended “KPop Republic” which was headlined by DalShalbet, SHINee and of course the reason I’ve been forced to watch the concert, EXO-K!

image

image

I like KPop, from the music quality to the visuals. I would be lying if I say that KPop and JPop don’t influence me at all. I really like watching KPop MVs and live performances. Let’s say I’m a quiet supporter of KPop but not really a die hard fan. My all time fave groups would still be 2NE1 and Miss A, EXO is trailing for the 3rd spot – every member is so good looking. Oh, I forgot BigBang ~ and GD! Hahaha (or should I use kekekeke?).

When we entered the venue, I didn’t expect that KPop fanatic would wear tees of their fave groups. I’m used to the usual Lady GaGa concert scene where once in a while there are some very ecletic personalities sporting a very Lady GaGa outfit, but for this concert it is quite different. Like I were saying most concert goers are wearing their idol’s tees very proudly (and the crowd is very young). And let me tell you, I am planning to buy the EXO jersey with number 88 at the front & back. Jersey tops are quite trendy nowadays. Well thanks to Korean idol groups.

image

Another thing I was really surprised were those lighsticks. OMG, those are like visual orgasm especially during the performances when they shake those little things in sync with the song. I just so love it. Here’s how the whole arena looks like with the lightsticks etc.

image

There are different lightstick depending which idol group you support. Well, I didn’t buy one and forgot to take a picture of one. Maybe google can provide me some pic.

image

image

Like I said the reason I was forced to watch the concert is because of EXO-K. EXO is actually divided into two groups which are EXO-K and EXO-M. The last few months they are performing as a whole EXO, and considering that only EXO-K is the only ones who performed last night, they still gave a very spectacular performance. EXO only debuted last year and they are still considered as rookie group but they killed the music charts in Korea the last few weeks and they slayed their performance in Araneta Coliseum.

I was actually surprised with SHINee. They are so great, like very great. Live performance (not lipsynch) and their choreography is ah-ma-zing. Let’s say that I will be keeping my eye to SHINee and maybe they gained another fan through me. SHINee’s stage performance is worldclass with the fireworks and all. No wonder, KPop is really big all over the world irregardless of language barrier. Eye candy is really a factor. I can definitely and surely say that this would not be my last KPop concert. When EXO will be back in the country, you can count me in.

For my outfit, I was not informed that most concert goers will be wearing their idols’ shirt, I should have buy an EXO one. Joking. For my top, it is actually a thin knitwear from highstreet brand “Stradivarius”. I bought a knitwear one size bigger to achieve the oversized look. Oversized looks are big on Korean idols look. For my bottom it is a pocketed black shorts from “Romwe”. Bag is a steal from “Cotton On”. I love how the bag has two tones and lastly my boots are from local brand “Milanos”, a line of men’s shoes from the biggest retailer in the Philippines which is SM (ShoeMart)

For my accesories, I went for what I called “Digitalis Party”, in simpler term ~ all rings.

Just a note for the future first time KPop concert goers, ready your eardrums for nonstop screaming, actually it is nonstop screeching of the other concert goers. Everyone’s going wild especially when their fave idol is flashed on the screen or when the crowd favorite idol is singing his part. Extra caution: For KPop boyband concerts.

I want to see 2NE1 and miss A in a concert soon. Too bad, I missed BigBang last year.

Til the next pose & post (and the next concert, Kpop or not)!

Fridays Are For Casual

I just love the idea of comfy ensemble and Friday is the perfect day of the week to dress it down. Did I just say I love Fridays? Me and my friends are looking forward to this day mainly because it is the last work day of the week for most of us. After work, we tend to go somewhere either have tons of talk or caffeine or tea or cookies or whatever where there’s tons of calories. Sounds boring right, but I’m over my alcoholism phase (my lips haven’t even touched a drink with alcohol for almost 4 months now? I guess my calculation and recollection are accurate).

Speaking of weekend, I can’t believe I will be attending my very first KPop concert tomorrow anf I cant hide my giddyness. The reason I will be attending the concert is because of EXO. They are like my fave KPop artist of the moment.

image

Ok enough being a fan now (I so promise I will blog about the EXO experience very soon), going back to my Friday entry;

For my today’s outfit, my pink polo shirt is from Giordano, I matched it my rolled up shorts from Cotton On, and finished it with slip-ons from local footwear brand Wade. Do you think it is very comfy?
